🚗 Full Vehicle Context, Now Inside Inspect
We are excited to introduce Vehicle History in ServiceCart (Inspect), giving technicians a faster and cleaner way to review a vehicle’s past service and inspection history directly from the Customer MPI screen.
Vehicle History brings together two important sources of information in one place:
- Customer MPI history from myKaarma, including previous inspection findings, recommendations, approvals, declines, and measurements.
- RO details from the DMS, including completed jobs, invoice details, technician information, opcodes, pricing, and tech stories when available.
This helps technicians quickly understand what happened on previous visits, avoid re-recommending recently completed work, review past declines, compare brake and tire measurements, and better diagnose repeat concerns.
📍 How to Open Vehicle History
1. Open an inspection in ServiceCart
Go to the Inspect tab and open the customer’s MPI.
2. Click Vehicle History in the left panel
In the left-side panel, click the Vehicle History button.
3. Review the Vehicle History popup
The Vehicle History popup will open with the vehicle’s past RO and MPI history.
🔎 What You’ll See in Vehicle History
Vehicle Details and Search
At the top of the popup, you’ll see key vehicle information such as:
- Year / Make / Model
- VIN
- Days since last visit
- Current mileage
You can also use the search bar to search any text on the page. For example, search for a service like brakes, alignment, battery, or air filter to quickly see if it was recommended or completed in the past.
📋 Reviewing Past ROs
All past ROs are listed on the left side of the popup.
Click any RO to open its details. Each RO gives you a quick view of:
- RO open date
- RO invoice
- Mileage
- Service advisor
- Customer
- Related MPI details
- Related RO details
This makes it easy to move between visits and review the most relevant history before completing the current inspection.
🧾 Customer MPI Details
The Customer MPI section shows what happened during previous inspections in myKaarma.
Use this section to understand what the technician found during a past MPI, what was recommended to the customer, and how the customer responded. This is where you can quickly see previous recommendations, approvals, declines, and inspection measurements.
This is especially useful when you want to:
- Re-check a previously declined recommendation
- Understand what was found during the last inspection
- Compare past brake and tire measurements
- See whether the same concern has appeared before
- Open the previous MPI directly using View Inspection
You can click on “View Inspection” to open the previous MPI directly in myKaarma.
Think of this section as the inspection story: what was found, what was recommended, and what the customer decided.
📏 Measurements
The Measurements section shows previous inspection measurements, such as brakes and tires.
Use this section to compare past readings against the current inspection.
This helps technicians:
- Understand wear patterns over time
- Avoid measurements that appear inconsistent with past readings
- Re-check items that were previously close to failing
- Explain changes more clearly to customers
For example, if rear brakes were previously measured low, you can quickly confirm whether the current condition has worsened and support your recommendation with history.
🛠 RO Details
The RO Details section shows what work was actually completed on the repair order, based on DMS history.
Use this section to confirm what jobs were performed, who worked on them, what opcodes were used, and any available tech story or job-level notes. This helps you verify completed work before making a new recommendation.
This is especially useful when you want to:
- Confirm whether a service was already performed
- Review completed jobs from a previous visit
- Check technician, opcode, labor, and pricing details
- Read the tech story for repair context
- Avoid recommending work that was recently completed
Think of this section as the repair record: what work was actually done on the vehicle.
💬 Customer Messages and ShopChat
From Vehicle History, you can also access related Customer Messages and ShopChat when available.
This helps you review past communication tied to the visit without leaving the Vehicle History view.
Use this when you need more context around a recommendation, a customer concern, or internal notes from a previous RO.

💡 Best Practices for Technicians
Before completing an inspection, quickly review Vehicle History to check:
- The most recent RO: This is usually the best place to start, especially for repeat concerns.
- Previous declines: Look for recommendations the customer declined last time that may still need attention.
- Completed work: Confirm whether a service was already performed before recommending it again.
- Brake and tire measurements: Compare current readings against previous measurements to make sure they are consistent.
- Tech stories and RO details: Review past notes to better understand what was diagnosed or repaired.
