As video inspections have become standard in service operations, maintaining consistent quality has become a challenge. Technician videos are vital for customer trust and service approvals — but with increasing volume, quality standards have slipped, and it’s hard to spot-check every video manually.
The Tech Video Grader solves this with AI. It automatically evaluates every technician video for content clarity, structure, and professionalism, providing an easy-to-read score and detailed feedback on what’s working — and what needs improvement.
The result: higher-quality videos, stronger customer confidence, and improved recommendation approval rates.
Tech Video Grader insights are accessible across myKaarma to support both managers and technicians:
- Dealership-level reports are available in myIQ (Insights → myIQ → “Tech Video Grader”), where performance can be filtered by date range, technician, or store.
- Within ServiceCart (Inspect Tab), Video Grader is embedded directly into the workflow — allowing users to view the video score from the left panel and open detailed analysis without leaving the inspection.
- Technicians can also view a 7-day performance snapshot directly on the Route Sheet, including average score, dealership rank, and total videos, updated every 2 hours.
🧠 What Is the Tech Video Grader Report?
The Tech Video Grader is an AI-powered analytics and grading tool that reviews each technician video using a report card.
The system evaluates both audio and visual content, checks for key customer-friendly elements, and generates:
- A Quality Grade for every video (Green, Yellow, or Red)
- Insights into what contributed to the score
- A Technician Leaderboard showcasing top performers
- Reporting views across stores and rooftops
With this, dealerships can easily monitor consistency, coach teams, and raise the overall communication standard in the service lane.
🚀 Why It Matters
| Problem | Impact |
| Inconsistent video quality | Reduced CSI and customer trust |
| Hard to monitor growing video volume | Time wasted on manual reviews |
| No clear performance standards | Technicians lack feedback and direction |
| Focus on quantity, not quality | Missed upsell and service approval opportunities |
AI Video Grading changes that:
✅ Creates a consistent quality standard
✅ Identifies top performers
✅ Improves approval and recommendation rates
✅ Boosts CSI and customer loyalty
🎯 What the AI Evaluates
Each technician video is analyzed for key quality factors across three major categories — Introduction, Vehicle Checks, and Value Building, plus overall clarity and tone.
Note:
- Only the first video on each Repair Order (RO) is analyzed by the AI.
- Ensure your team records one complete video per RO to receive an accurate quality grade.
1. Introduction
The AI checks whether the technician creates a professional and friendly start:
- Introduced themselves: Mentions name or role (e.g., “Hi, I’m Alex, your technician today.”)
- Mentioned dealership name: Reinforces trust and brand consistency (e.g., “Welcome to New York BMW.”)
- License plate visible: Confirms the vehicle being inspected for transparency.
2. Vehicle Checks
Ensures that all critical inspection areas are covered using appropriate terms and visual evidence.
- Brakes: Mentions brake pads, rotors, or brake system.
- Tires: Shows tread, tire wear, or PSI.
- Suspension: Includes components like struts, control arms, or shocks.
- Drivetrain: References drivetrain-related systems (transmission, CV joints, differential).
- Fluid Leaks: Identifies leaks or confirms “no leaks found.”
- Primary Concern: Detects when the technician references the customer’s reason for visit using phrases like “you came in for,” “you mentioned,” or “the issue you’re having.”
- Wipers: Mentions condition of wipers.
3. Value Building
Evaluates whether the technician communicates value and reassurance clearly.
Please note: Only the gauges shown below are currently supported for detection by the Tech Video Grader. Other gauge types may not be recognized accurately at this time.
-
Brake Gauge Used: Shows gauge usage for credibility.
-
Tire Gauge Used: Shows gauge usage for measurement transparency.
- Green Checks Mentioned: Addresses the overall vehicle condition by commenting on or acknowledging green-check items, showing that the technician is highlighting what’s in good shape.
- Customer-Friendly Language: Avoids overly technical jargon, ensuring the customer can easily understand.
4. Overall Delivery
Assesses how the message is delivered:
- Pace: Ideal speech rate is 120–170 words per minute.
- Profanity: Detects and flags any explicit or inappropriate language.
- Video Pauses: Considers any pauses in the video recording and factors them into the assessment of overall delivery.
📊 Scoring & Reporting
Each factor contributes to an overall video grade, displayed as a color-coded score:
- 🟢 Green: Meets or exceeds quality standards
- 🟡 Yellow: Acceptable but needs improvement
- 🔴 Red: Below quality expectations
Dealership leaders can track:
- Average video quality by technician or rooftop
- Trends in introduction and inspection coverage
- Approval rates and CSI improvement linked to quality
Reports are accessible via myIQ (Insights → myIQ → "Tech Video Grader") and can be filtered by date range, technician, or store.
