- What processors/gateways are eligible for 3DS?
All Gateways and Processor can take advantage of 3DS now. - What do I need to do to activate 3DS for my dealership?
- We need to have the 3DS addendum signed and pricing structure selected
- From there, we need to be put in contact with your MSP to obtain your MID and CreditCard BIN credentials for deployment.
- What does 3DS protect my dealership against?
3DS protects the dealership from fraudulent charges made online across all major card brands. - How does 3DS protect my dealership and what does it look like?
- 3DS provides a 2FA (two factor authentication) step for customers to complete during checkout
- Once the customer hits pay and before the transaction is executed a window will prompt the customer to verify their account
- Once this is completed the liability is shifted away from the dealership and the customer checkout is completed
- Dealership/customer will not notice any other changes to the checkout process other than this 2FA instance
- How is 3DS deployed?
- Dealer agrees to 3DS addendum and provides MSP contact details
- MSP provides mK with MID and BIN (VISA, MC, AMEX & DISC) credentials for dealership
- mK loads these credentials into CardinalCommerce and receives API keys to deploy into Admin tool
- Admin tool is set to dealership requirements and dealer goes live on 3DS
- Will enabling 3DS completely absolve my dealership from liability?
- No - 3DS helps in having liability shifted away from the dealership in instances where it is applied to the transaction (dependent on dealership rules, manager approvals, and other settings).
- Fraudulent charges can still happen, for example, if dealership users are entering payment details manually
- 3DS only covers fraudulent chargebacks, and it does not cover other chargeback categories
